The Baron's ambitious cruelty is paralleled only by his greed and gluttony. He is personally responsible for the death of the Duke Leto Atreides, Paul's Father.

Serving as a pawn of the Emperor, the Baron had ruled Arrakis with an iron fist until the Emperor had replaced him with the Duke and House Atreides. Furious with his plight the Baron has vowed to squash the Atreides and regain his throne as governor of Arrakis

My vision of the Baron stems back to sometime in the mid 70's when I was a teenager in high school. My brother owned a "Dune" calender. It predated the movie by several years. However I always liked the artist interpretation of the Baron, and his image as a fat bald man with a high caller has always stuck with me.
