Oil on Board

Clcik on her bum to fetch a larger bottom
In 2006, struggling to title my pieces, I decided that year, I would name everything I produced after Leonard Cohen lyrics.
I absolve myself of any pseudo S&M intentions when producing this painting. Even if the subject and the title reek of it. I didn't pose the model in this position. (It was actually recommended to her by her chiropractor). Granted, I chose this pose to paint; It was different and more interesting than your standard run of the mill life drawing gesture.
Of course, now having painted the thing, it becomes time to give it a name. And, since I'm drawing my titling inspiration from the "lord of song" himself, I couldn't help but make the match. If your gonna use Leonard's lyrics, you might as well be brave enough to borrow this provocative phrase from his classic nihilistic, "the Future".
However, I may as well confess that I wasn't brave enough when it became time to show it at the Prairie Artist's Guild "Harvest of Art" show. I looked toward a different Leonard song. I am ashamed, because we are taught that if we are not brave, we must therefore be cowardly. In our society there is no room for anything in between.
